My Endorsement of Peter Lumaj for Connecticut Secretary of the State

I want to speak today about a man I’m proud to call a friend, and even prouder to endorse. His name is Peter Lumaj.
Peter Lumaj’s story is not just an American story. It is the American story.
He was not born into freedom.He fled tyranny to find it. Raised under a brutal communist regime in Albania, Peter learned early what happens when government controls speech, faith, and the ballot box. His family practiced their religion in secret, knowing that discovery could mean prison or worse. That kind of upbringing does something to a man. It teaches him that liberty is not a slogan. It is a responsibility worth defending.
When Peter came to America, he did what generations of immigrants have done before him. He worked. He studied. He learned the language of freedom and the law. He became a lawyer, trained in political science and law on both sides of the Atlantic, and he went on to serve as a fraud investigator, fighting corruption and standing up for fairness under the law .
Today, Peter Lumaj is a family man, a successful attorney, a real estate developer, and a proud resident of Fairfield, Connecticut. But more than that, he is a man who understands something many career politicians never will: what it means to lose freedom, and what it takes to protect it.
That is why Peter Lumaj is uniquely qualified to serve as Secretary of the State of Connecticut.
This office is not ceremonial. It is the guardian of our elections and the steward of our statewide business processes. It demands integrity, legal judgment, and moral clarity. Peter has all three. He understands that democracy only works when elections are fair, transparent, and trusted. He understands that the rule of law must apply equally to everyone, without fear or favor.
Peter is not new to this fight. In 2014, he was the Republican nominee for Secretary of the State and ran one of the closest statewide races in recent history, winning multiple congressional districts and earning the trust of voters across Connecticut . He has spent decades supporting candidates, knocking on doors, and standing shoulder to shoulder with those who believe this state deserves better.
I’ll tell you something honestly. I might almost regret not running for this office myself. But any regret disappears when I know a man like Peter Lumaj is stepping forward to carry this mantle.
So today, I ask my friends, my supporters, and yes, even my detractors, to rally behind Peter Lumaj. Help him meet the financial goals he’ll need to fight this campaign. Spread the word. Shine a light into the darker corners of our state government and demand better.
Peter Lumaj is a warrior for election integrity. He is a defender of the rule of law. And he is living proof that America still rewards faith, hard work, and courage.
